Da Vinci Code

May 31, 2006 · 1 Comment

Yep, saw it. Wished I’d taken rotten tomatoes with me to the theater. Would have thrown at least three. I didn’t read the book, but saw a lot of history channel on “the truth” Like there can be absolute truth in history. Plot was pretty good, but they really used history for their own nefarious purposes. And the rose line, now that’s all kind of crazy.

Every time I hear the words Opus Dei I think, that would be a great name for a rock group. Also, I couldn’t take the creepy fake albino priest seriously. Cause every time I saw him I was thinking, “fake albino priest.” That plot line was weak, I think people grow up deranged for other reasons than really bad parents, that’s been done to death. Also, I didn’t need to SEE him killing people, I got the message without all the in my face bloody detail.

Also, Sub Rosa? Isn’t that a household in the SCA? hmn. hmn.

I can’t believe Opie Cunningham and Tom Hanks would make a movie that says, “Jesus came for the betterment of mankind.” Bless their hearts, Did they just see a chance to make a lot of $$$? After all it worked for Mel Gibson. But that’s a religious discussion I’ll save for another day.

“An Honor To Serve”

May 30, 2006 · No Comments

My brother, my baby, my dad, my nephew, my nephew, friends, these are just a few of the people who chose to risk their lives to keep us safe.

Thanks,

He was just a young man
When he first heard the call
Come and join in the battle
Come and give us your all
And he rose up to follow
Leaving all else behind
And he joined in this song
When he reached the front lines

It's an honor to serve
To join in the fight
To lift up my voice
And to lay down my life
Giving glory to God
Seeking none in return
It's an honor an honor to serve

Now the day he was captured
They locked him in chains
And though weeks turned to years
Still his faith stayed the same
As his body was broken
His dark hair turned gray
But each night in his cell
He would stand up and say

It's an honor to serve
To join in the fight
To lift up my voice
And to lay down my life
Giving glory to God
Seeking none in return
It's an honor an honor to serve

Now one day the war finally came to an end
And he spoke with his heart as he stood
with his men.

*Spoken* "We are honored to have had the opportunity to serve our country under difficult circumstances. We are profoundly grateful to our commander-in-chief and to our nation for this day…God Bless America"

As they lifted the flag at the front of the
crowd
I watched him stand up and bring his hand
to his brow
Oh Lord help me remember what true
honor means
And no matter the cost to stand up and
sing
It's an honor to serve
To join in the fight
To lift up my voice
And to lay down my life
Giving glory to God
Seeking none in return
It's an honor an honor to serve
(written and sung by Ray Boltz in honor of POW/MIA Jeremiah Denton on his return home)

One Scarf, two Scarf, Red Scarf, Blue Scarf

May 25, 2006 · 2 Comments

What’s with the Meridias scarf war? I still get the Meridian yahoo group in digest form and there has been a major stink, aka hissy fit over rapier fighters wearing red scarves, and there has been some major name calling. What gives?
