Procrastination

February 26, 2007 · 2 Comments

Job Security, thats what it is. Since they waited to the last minute to do their part, I worked 12 hours today and will probably work 12 tomorrow. Vague, yes, but I really don’t want the whole world knowing my business.

A Spoonful Of Sugar

In ev’ry job that must be done
There is an element of fun
you find the fun and snap!
The job’s a game

In ev’ry task you undertake
Becomes a piece of cake
A lark! A spree!
It’s very clear to see

That a…
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

A robin feathering his nest
Has very little time to rest
While gathering his
Bits of twine and twig

Though quite intent in his pursuit
He has a merry tune to toot
He knows a song
Will move the job along

For a…
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way

For a…
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go down
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way
In a most delightful way

after the storm

February 26, 2007 · 2 Comments

Despite the job situation, house situation, ex situation, this has been a remarkably good year. Why? Because of the PEOPLE in my life. I’m sorry that I have whined so much. It won’t happen any more. (you’re thinking you’ll believe it when you see it.) I’ve had friends who were laid off and it took them months to find another job. I’ll find one too.

This weekend was really great, maybe one of the best this year, the only thing that could have made it better was if OS was there. And if I could have cloned myself so I could have spent more time with more people. The site was beautiful, I spent most of Saturday in Shopping Therapy which was sorely needed and I came back refreshed and ready to participate. The rain and wind were wild, and April appearing in the middle of feast was awesome. She was excited by the storm, laughing, barefoot, and so alive.  I wanted to go play in the rain too, but by the time feast was over, so was the rain.

Sunday AM, I toured the site checking out the modern art and the museum. The sun was shining through the windows in the museum and it was peaceful. Was glad Gabbi got to come out and play. She needs a break from life from time to time. We had some nice downtime with her and some others.  Ate at Cracker Barrel on the way home. Why do so many stories start that way and end badly? Or at least with a good laugh. The service was good. But I really do have pork allergies and should stop lying to myself. Listened to the mellow voice of John Corbett on the way home, was a great weekend for great voices, yes maam indeed.

She thinks my tractors sexy

February 25, 2007 · No Comments

Plowing these fields in the hot summer sun
Over by the gate lordy here she comes
With a basket full of chicken and a big cold jug of sweet tea
I make a little room and she climbs on up
Open up a throttle and stir a little dust
Just look at her face she ain’t a foolin me

She thinks my tractor’s sexy
It really turns her on
She’s always staring at me
While I’m chuggin along
She likes the way it’s pullin’ while we’re tillin’ up the land
She’s even kind of crazy ’bout my farmer’s tan
She’s the only one who really understands what gets me
She thinks my tractor’s sexy

We ride back and forth until we run out of light
Take it to the barn put it up for the night
Climb up in the loft sit and talk with the radio on
She said she’s got a dream and I asked what it is
She wants a little farm and a yard full of kids
One more teeny weeny ride before take her home

She thinks my tractor’s sexy
It really turns her on
She’s always staring at me
While I’m chuggin along
She likes the way it’s pullin’ while we’re tillin’ up the land
She’s even kind of crazy ’bout my farmer’s tan
She’s the only one who really understands what gets me
She thinks my tractor’s sexy

Well she ain’t into cars or pick up trucks
But if it runs like a Deere man her eyes light up

She thinks my tractor’s….

She thinks my tractor’s sexy
It really turns her on
She’s always staring at me
While I’m chuggin along
She likes the way it’s pullin’ while we’re tillin’ up the land
She’s even kind of crazy ’bout my farmer’s tan
She’s the only one who really understands what gets me
She thinks my tractor’s sexy

there is a point to this

February 22, 2007 · No Comments

I’m just not sharing it. I keep looking for specific lyrics that match my mood and finding other ones that kind of do.

She gets up an hour before she really wants to
Gets a half day’s work done before the day begins
She makes a list of everything that everybody needs from her
And all that she did yesterday today she’ll do again
She goes off to her job, the school, the bank and then the store
Then you’re surprised ’cause she broke down as you walked in the door
Maybe she’s human
Maybe she’s got troubles to
Maybe she could stand to get away
Maybe she needs something new
Or maybe all she needs to someone
Just to see her point of view…
Maybe that’s you
After working late today, she brings in bags of groceries
Bandages a skinned-up knee as the chicken starts to fry
She drops a glass, the baby cries, the phone rings,
That’s when you walk in unloading all your problems
And the worries on your mind
When you mention it’s your boys’ night out, she tears you into shreds
And you just can’t quite figure out why she gets all upset
Maybe she’s human
Maybe she’s got troubles to
Maybe she could stand to get away
Maybe she needs something new
Or maybe all she needs to someone
Just to see her point of view…
Maybe that’s you

Make Love Not War

February 22, 2007 · No Comments

Keep on kissin?

Fighting’s too much of a bore
Why don’t we all make love not war

Keep on kissin?

Drop the gun and have some fun
There’s enough for everyone

Keep on kissin

For goodness sake we should be
K I S S I N G

Keep on kissin?

What’s it about, what’s it for
Let’s you make, I make love not war

Keep on kissin?

We’re all in this same damn tree
Start K I S S I N G

Keep on kissin?

Can’t you see there’s so much more
Why don’t we all make love not war

Keep on kissin?

For goodness sake we should be
K I S S I N G

Listen to what I have to say
It all goes too fast anyway

Well Kat tagged me for this and so here goes.

  1. I’m shy and a big chicken so I push myself to do things, talk to strangers, take trips by myself, etc.
  2. I think education is one of the most important things you can have. I have several degrees, am always reading, learning, growing. I love to learn new things, big things, small things, its all interesting. I ask a lot of questions because I want to know everything.
  3. I wash my hands a lot. I might wash them 5-6 times while cooking. This is the hardest part of camping, hand sanitizer is NOT soap and water and its just not the same.
  4. Blessed are the peacemakers. I’m not the middle child, which is normally the peacemaker, I’m the youngest, but I still go out of my way to interpret, make nice, love everyone because I can almost always see both sides of an issue. If someone has hurt me, I see where they are coming from, why they did it and after the first gut reaction, I’m back to loving them again. I sometimes hate myself for this, for making nice, giving in, giving up what I want for others because its not always appreciated, in fact its sometimes taken for granted. But deep down I know that I’m happy and content and, well? They need it more than I do. I rarely ask for anything and when I do, I’m amazed at how wonderful people are to me. I wish we could all just play nice and get along.
  5. I think in songs frequently. I have songs for a lot of people and places.

Such as:

I walked on the River

Stood on the Shore

Seems like the devil’s always
Tryin’ to get in my door
Just when I thought
I couldn’t take anymore
You come again, my friend

He keeps sending me angels
From up on high
He keeps sending me angels
Teach me to fly
He keeps sending me angels
Sweet and true
He keeps sending me angels
Just like you

As I stand on this mountain
Face to the wind
Amazed by the number of times
We all sin
The countless enemies
That could’ve been friends
Oh here he comes again

*He keeps sending me angels
Here they come a flyin’
He keeps sending me angels
To keep me from cryin’
(He keeps) Sending me angels
So I’ll never be blue
He keeps sending me angels
Just like you

He keeps sending me angels
From up on high
He keeps sending me angels
Teach me to fly
He keeps sending me angels
So I’ll never be blue
He keeps sending me angels
lust like you

Some say that it’s comin’
Say it’s already here
But love is among us
Through the joy and the fear
When I look in your eyes
Everything is so clear
My friend, here it comes again

(*Repeat)

** He keeps sending me angels
From up on high
He keeps sending me angels
To teach me to fly
He keeps sending me angels
Sweet and true
(He keeps) Sending me angels

I’d like to thank Baby Jesus

February 19, 2007 · 8 Comments

I’d like to thank the 7 pound eight ounce baby Jesus in the gold lame swaddeling clothes for the very special birthday present I’ll be getting this year. :) I wasn’t sure if it was something I was ready for, but I am. Seeing as how my birthday isn’t until October. I have a long time to get used to it.

oh, and I’m still not ready for the rocking chair.

Blue Dogs, Shoes and Interviews

February 19, 2007 · 3 Comments

Flying trip to Lafayette, better learn to spell it if I’m going to be living there. Had lunch at the Blue Dog Cafe, Found a temporary place to live and had a three hour interview. Drove home in the rain Monday night to board a plane to AZ Tuesday a.m.

I really liked the job opportunity and would do it in a heartbeat, even though I don’t like the thought of moving. But after spending that much time and some phone interviews, I’m thinking this would be a very good fit for me. Hope he thinks the same cause there is NOTHING in today’s paper.

Before the interview went to a shoe store called Crazy Charlie’s Shoes. WOW was like shoe museum. Had all kinds of brands/styles and was two blocks from where I’d be working. Nice to have goals.

I can see from my msn that no one is working today. Sigh, I’m ready to catch up with everyone. Had a great trip to AZ, for the record? its hot there and cold there and windy. :) with beautiful sunsets and sunrises that make you want to get outdoors and run. I’ll say more about the trip later.

More interviews

February 8, 2007 · No Comments

Sometimes the voices in your head aren’t your past, they just mean you are crazy. As in. “Sure I can be in Lafayette on Monday for a job interview when my plane leaves from Little Rock Tuesday am. No problem. I just won’t last minute sew on Monday.” That’s just the crazy talking. It’s only seven hours, no big deal.

The mom has been nothing but supportive, of the whole sorry mess that is my life the last month or so. I was worried she’d have a cow about a potential move. She said? “Oh great I’d love to visit where there is some good Cajun food.”

Interview today for a local job.  Will know something next week.

Cute

February 7, 2007 · 3 Comments

I’m working real hard not to become one of those crazy dog-coat.jpgpeople who buy their dogs clothes. But, its cold and she’s tiny and this is seriously cute.

Yesterday we went to Pet Smart and got her a tag with her name and my phone number on it. A is baby sitting next week and she was worried she might get lost. Not likely as she is afraid to run unless she thinks you need the excercise. A said the cat will be sad as there is less chance of Cinnamon getting lost.
