So I’m not a member of any household. I hang out with several and have for years, but for whatever reason, I’ve never been invited to join.
So anyway, this past wonderful weekend, I’m sitting at dinner with one of the members of one of OS’s households. He says, “Where is Sara? She should be here.” I’m halfway through the best Pina Colada I’ve had the pleasure to drink in a while and I’m not thinking real coherent. (as in I decided to drink my supper, something called “voodoo juice” yep, show me the karaoke machine, and oohh he’s real cute) It came in a bucket, need I say more?
“Sara who?” I say, I know lots of Saras and Sarah’s and well you get the picture. So he says, “The Sara” And I say “Sara Willis?” I had kind of lost some brain cells you know? So he says, “The Sara, Our Sara, the Only Sara, MY Sara.” Sweet. That girl’s got something going on and it ain’t just her baking skills.

Hi Sheila! Noticed the comment on Households and that you haven’t been invited. That’s hard to believe with an intelligent, creative and open person like yourself. Curious though…. have you ever talked to someone whose household you wanted to be part of? As head of my household, House Bohun, I am very receptive to people who come to me and discuss their participation. Kinda shows a proactive approach. Making sure you fit with a household is important. I make sure the personalities fit before we bring someone in and have had to explain to people sometimes that it just wasn’t a good fit. But I am careful to let them know that it is not them personally.
You seem to have the wit and ability to start your own household as well. No limitations on that in the SCA…

Thanks! Thats good advice. After I wrote that post I realized I am a member of a service household and I’ve had invites from 3-4 more for a specific thing which I’m considering. Amazing what happens when I’m just letting my fingers do the thinking.
